The internet. It revolutionized our lives in ways we could never have imagined. From the ways in which we communicate, access information, conduct business, do research… the list is extensive and almost endless. Consider the businesses created and all of the jobs those new businesses generated. But the most profound development since the advent of the internet, and very likely even more profound, is the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and the disruption it has introduced to traditional business processes and legacy thinking in a very short period of time, in some cases measured in weeks (think content generation, search and data analysis… among many others).
As AI and machine learning become more commonplace, and exponentially so, almost overnight businesses are being forced to rethink their strategies in order to stay competitive. Or to adopt AI quickly to create competitive advantage. This paradigm shift has led to a flurry of business process re-engineering, the complete overhaul of existing processes, systems, teams and structures in order to capitalize on the opportunities presented by AI. For many businesses, adopting AI is a huge step change, and a big opportunity. Think about Microsoft’s $10B investment in Open AI or the high number of business models that have been immediately invigorated by the incorporation of AI powered tools (Unbounce adding AI generated content or Shutterstock’s partnership with Open AI). Much of this feels like it happened overnight, and in some cases it did. It is rapidly feeling like businesses that don’t embrace AI are likely to be left behind. The term being used is “obsoleted”. Some already have been, they just don’t know it yet.
The good news is that AI is not a one size fits all solution. Businesses can tailor AI solutions to their specific needs, and there are plenty of resources available to help them do so. From tutorials on how to use algorithms to create machine learning applications, to data analytics tools to help businesses understand their customer base in new and more precise ways, to AI driven customer service solutions. The possibilities are virtually limitless, and that will only scale.
The rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies has revolutionized the way we do business, seemingly in an instant, and those businesses that embrace these technologies will have a significant advantage in the marketplace.

I have always been an early adopter. Ideas, concepts, technologies and methodologies, learning and testing these is a personal passion. This puts me in the unique position of usually having perspective, POV and experience with this newness before everyone else. I use this to both my and my consulting clients advantage. Let me show you.
