“AI-infused” is a term that our team has been using a lot over the last few months. This is in part because it is the current reality of AI, that it is being incorporated into all kinds of new and legacy platforms, tools and work flows. At present there are literally dozens and dozens of AI-infused tools being released every week. AI tools have been around for a lot longer than the release of ChatGPT last year, in some form for the better part of the last 4 decades, but it’s really since about 2016 that AI tools began to appear with utility for individuals, small businesses and other non-enterprise/government/scientific users. Personally, I use upwards of 5-10 AI-infused tools on a daily basis, tools like Google Assistant, Mem, Writer, Lex, ChatPDF and Lexica while also constantly evaluating dozens of others. I was curious what ChatGPT might offer as an explanation for what AI infusion is, so I asked it:
What is AI Infusion?
ChatGPT: AI infusion is the incorporation of AI-based systems, tools, algorithms, or models into existing workflows or developing new AI-powered applications or solutions that can enhance business operations, decision-making, customer experience, and innovation.
The goal of AI infusion is to leverage the power of AI to augment human intelligence, automate routine tasks, streamline processes, and enable organizations to make data-driven decisions and gain a competitive advantage in their respective industries.

That’s a good answer, comprehensive but not unexpected and it nailed my use cases for the AI-infused tools that I employ. I’m obviously not alone as with the advent of ChatGPT and thousands of other ways to interact with and use AI we’ve seen our feeds clogged with AI focused content. Many are referring to this as the “AI hype machine”, but I think it is something else altogether:
Sorry if it is a little hard to read, but you get the point. Just two months for ChatGPT to reach 100 million global monthly active users. That is astonishing and not surprising at the same time. Astonishing for the speed with which people have engaged, experimented with and incorporated ChatGPT into their lives (and that ChatGPT was quickly integrated into so many of the tools we all are already using daily), and not surprising because SO MANY of these AI infused tools (many of which use a ChatGPT integration) are actually incredibly useful, save tremendous time and cost, and in many cases are actually enjoyable to use.
It’s definitely not hype. AI-infused tools are here to stay and the scale at which they are being created and released is approaching exponential.

I have always been an early adopter. Ideas, concepts, technologies and methodologies, learning and testing these is a personal passion. This puts me in the unique position of usually having perspective, POV and experience with this newness before everyone else. I use this to both my and my consulting clients advantage. Let me show you.
